Brazil is a developing country which needs capital investment. There are some areas of investment offer the additional incentive of being tax free for a period of years, and also the possibility of matching capital or low interest loans guaranteed by the government. Besides making money you might be able to get a tax break stateside on your travel costs flying to and from to check on your investment.
For many years the devaluations of the R$ (Real) made the American US$ (Dollar) worth more than three times as much, but in recent years the R$ has been gaining strength. The economic crisis caused several years ago caused many Brazilians to sell some of their holdings, and many to seek 'foreign' partners. In other areas, tourism, manufacturing and/or agriculture are still good investments, but foreign investors are advised to invest now ... don´t wait.
Tourism is still one of the hottest potentials in Brazil right now. Since the 911 WTC disaster, many Americans and even more Europeans are looking at Brazil as a 'safe haven'.
Vacation homes, rented for tourists on a short term weekly basis when the owners are absent; pousadas ( small bed and breakfast type lodging, normally on a beach or in a resort area); unique or different tourist attractions; all are interesting propositions.
We are looking at several other development projects, (which we would consider taking in a few partners also ), and besides our regular 'tour' business and travel agency, I plan on putting together some very unique tours - Escorted Motorcycle Tours of The Northeast., Cycling Tours, and possibly Sea Kayaks in the future.. We also offer 65+ other speciality tours all over Brazil.
One of the most exciting projects was our Jungle Lodge project in the Amazon - Jungle Lodge, which was proposed as a 'member owned' facility on the Urubu River close to Manaus in the Amazon. This project was shelved because of lack of interest at the time.
Another current project is the Ecological Preserve Sernativo , a special ´pet´project of mine in Rio Grande do Norte.
We invite you to follow us and look around... maybe you'll see why the ol' captain moved back to Brazil. Business in Paradise is FUN and interesting!
