This lodge is located 160 KM from Campo Grande, the capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and 60 KM from Aquidauana, which is known as the gateway to the Pantanal since it is close to the Maracaju mountain range.

Owned by the same family over the last 150 years, activities were diversified eleven years ago. Basically a cattle ranch, they introduced eco-tourism and fishing, and actively support conservation projects such as the Escola Pantaneira (school), Cavalo Pantaneiro (regional breed of horses) and Projeto Arara Azul (Hyacinth Macaw Project).

Note: Pantaneiro refers to inhabitants, creatures or anything relative to the Pantanal region.

 

The lodge has 14 rooms equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans, restaurant, thatched-roof kiosks to relax after wonderful meals, swimming pool, sand volley court, soccer field, landing strip for small planes and a diversified activities program.

Here, fishermen will find all they need: boats, motor, pilot, fuel and support points to purchase bait.

CORDILHEIRA LODGE: 17 KM from Caiman lodge, it has 6 apartments with private bath and terrace, ample living room, air conditioning, swimming pool and an observation tower.

Located in the Abobral / Negro region of the Pantanal, on the margin of the Miranda River. This famous ranch/hotel, founded in 1895, can be reached only by air taxi because it is located in a region of difficult access. We arrange your plane, 'air taxi' trip from Campo Grande or Corumbá. The ariel views of the Pantanal are breath taking !!!

In August, at the right time, it is possible to observe the blossoming of "Piuva", "Paratudo" and "Cambara" trees.

 

Note: There is also a cooperative union of local guides, all local from the region, that have a highly specialized knowledge of the area. Their independent tours depart from Corumba to camping sites inside the Pantanal and activities include hiking, horseback riding and boat expeditions..
