Throughout Brazil, Carnaval is the big holiday during the months of February and March, but Natal has their own unique festival to start the winter season - CARNATAL. The Brazilian holiday season (high season) runs from mid-December to the end of Carnaval in March.

Carnaval - Olinda
The Carnaval in Olinda (Recife) is also one of the favorites in Brazil.

Carnaval - Salvador & Porto Seguro - Bahia
Another favorite in Brazil, Salvador is probably the wildest next to Rio. The Carnaval at Porto Seguro is a bit more laid back, but nice parties, reasonable prices, and geared toward the younger crowd.
