GREEN~TRACK - Pantanal
Walking Tours
Corumba / Campo Grande - Mato Grosso do Sul
Why visit the Pantanal?
No visit to Brazil would be complete without a visit to THE
PANTANAL, 150.000 kmē of wetlands in the heart of South America. It is the largest
wetland area in the world, known for its rich variety of unspoiled plant and wildlife.
A
visitor to the Pantanal will be struck by a vast number of species difficult
to find anywhere else in the world. And because the landscape of the Pantanal
is open - and not dense like the rainforest - wildlife is particularly easy
to spot.
Why Green~Track?
Unlike other agencies, where the person you speak with is not the person
who takes you into the Pantanal, Green~Track is a cooperative union of
local guides. All of our guides grew up in the region, and have highly specialised
knowledge of the area. Each of our tours is constructed on an individual basis, and
can contain hiking, horseback riding and boat expeditions. Accommodations can also
be arranged according to the groups wishes, ranging from camping in tents to
comfortable indoor lodging.
The Green~Track Base Camp is located
in the area between the Nhecolandia, being the highest part of the Pantanal, and the Rio
Negro being the lowest, covering an area of 38.000 hectares. Due to this change in
landscape, you will experience the different habitats within the Pantanal, changing from
Savannah to Gallery forests and Meanderform rivers.
The Green~Track Tours into the
Pantanal are well organised and informative, they are available for 3 or more days. Half
of the first and last day of the tour will be taken up by travelling to and from the Base
camp by truck, where numerous animals and birds can be seen on route. Once at the
Base camp all tours are carried out on foot, because it's being the best way to observe
the animals within their natural environment, with minimal disturbance.
