LEARN TO FLY!
The Ultra-Leve (Ultra-light) aircraft is very poplar in Brazil, especially in the wide-open spaces and beaches of the northeast. If you've ever wanted to obtain your license to fly one of these, now is the perfect opportunity. You can take lessons while you are on vacation and return home qualified to fly.
A new era of recreational aviation is taking hold all over the world, and ultralights and microlights are leading the way. It's the magic of simple, elemental, pure flight -- the wind in your face, an unobstructed view, exploring the countryside100 feet up at 40 mph. All of this is a powerful and compelling experience.

Pilot s documentation -
The license for the ultralight pilots in Brazil is the CPD (Sportive Pilot's Certificate) which is issued after aproval in an exam made by an official representative of the Civil Aviation Department (DAC). To qualify for this check the pilot must have at least 20 hours of solo after concluded a school trainning in an authorized site by the DAC. This license is valid for 3 years, after that the pilot has to submit to another exam.
To start flight training fly, the schools ask for a Medical Certificate (CCF) issued by a special medical team of the Aeronautical Ministry. This certificate has to be revalidated once each 2 years for those up to 40 years old, once a year for 40 to 50 years old, and each 6 mounths for older than 50. This certificate is the same as for Private Pilots.
Aircraft documentation -
Every plane needs to have it's documents on board. For ultralights there are two, the Fly Authorization Certificate (CAV) and Experimental Brand Certificate (CME), both issued by the DAC (Departamento de Aeron utica Civil). So when bying the equipment the pilot has to ask for those docs.
The pilot may be asked for his/her and the plane's documents at any time during flying activities.
The training consists in theory classes and flying practice, which are given in parallel or at the same time. On the average the student will solo after 10 to 12 hours of flying with the instructor. The theory classes' duration varies from school to school, there the student will see the flying theory, some metheorology basics and aeronautical regulations. It is very important to know how the school works and the instructor's skills and experience, before a possible adventure in an unknown world!
Natal, Rio Grande do Norte
Ultra-light flying is a very popular sport in the northeast of Brazil, and especially so in Natal and the surrounding area. The climate and prevailing winds year around, and the beautiful unpolulated dunes and beaches provide an ideal training area.

Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo
In the south of the country, the Brazilians are more into Para-Gliding and soaring because of the mountains, and the schools are quite good (World Famous). We will get more in to this subject in the future.
