It is strongly advised for both members and non-members to take advantage of our advice on local reservations throughout the northeast.
The club maintains 'convenio' contracts with selected pousadas and hotels in recommended areas and suggests tours with recommended operators only.

"As far as most of the world is concerned, there are two Brazilian beaches: Copacabana and Ipanema. Yet there is another kind of Brazilian beach - which is not to surprising in a country that boasts over 7,000 km of Atlantic waterfront. This beach is not fringed not with skyscrapers but with slender coconut palms. Here, the big entertainment involves the afternoon arrival of the jangadas, primative fishing boats powered by the wind.
WELCOME TO THE NORTHEAST COAST, a stretch of shoreline with beaches so spectacular that even cariocas sometimes search them out. Northeastern Brazil encompasses nearly 20% of the entire country, and includes the states listed in the side panel. Much of the interior is dry scrub desert, sparsely-populated badlands known as the sertão. While the narrow coastal strip has attracted all the northeast's major cities - among them Salvador da Bahia, once the nations capital - it also includes hundreds of kilometres of pristine beaches punctuated with rustic fishing villages." "I SERIOUSLY ADVISE ANYONE CONSIDERING VISITING BRAZIL FOR THE FIRST TIME TO PURCHASE A COPY OF MR. BRADBURY'S FINE BOOK." - Capt Donald

Rio Grande do Norte
Like most capital cities in the northeast, Natal is likeable. A city of 800,000 people, it provides access to about 380 km of coastline in Rio Grande do Norte State. Natal doesn't currently attract the same crowds of vacationing Brazilians that cities such as Fortaleza and Salvador do; consequently, its dune-flanked beaches and fishing villages remain relatively pristine.
The local people are very friendly, even by northeastern standards, and some of the older folk speak rudimentary English; the Americans established a large airbase here during World War II from which to attack German stongholds in Africa.
