Introduction
|
Manary,
in the language spoken by the Potiguara Indians who lived in this
region, means "spirit or genie of good." The Nautilus
shell, the logo of the Hotel, symbolizes coziness 'at home'.
|
It
is our philosophy is to be in harmony with nature. For that reason,
the Manary was built using local materials and adopted the principle
of a self-sustainable environment - a solar heating system and an
energy-efficient electric system. The colonial architecture and
atmosphere traditionalize the northeast and harmonizes with the
beautiful landscape of Ponta Negra Beach.

ABOUT
THE NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL
|
Internationally
renowned for the beauty of its beaches and hospitality of its people,
the Northeast region of Brazil holds many strange secrets for the
discerning tourist in its little-known interior. It contains the
greatest assemblage of rock art in the world, paintings and engravings
made by long-extinct indigenous groups. There are also very rich
pathological deposits, especially from the Cretaceous period - with
remains of dinosaurs, fishes and mollusks - and Ice Age fossils
of mastodons, giant sluttish, saber-toothed tigers and others.
|
These
riches occur in the midst of wild landscapes graced with impressive
geological monuments formed by erosion over millions of years. The
semi-arid climate, impenetrability of the thorn forests and small
population of this remote region has helped to preserve these natural
and cultural marvels.
