ITINERARY:

Transport van

Day 1: SALVADOR.
Upon arrival in Bahia a representative will transfer you from the airport to your hotel of choice. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight at Tropical Bahia Hotel.
 
Day 2: SALVADOR.
This morning, you will discover Bahia's history and culture. Start at the Farol da Barra with its famous lighthouse, and then make your way to the old historical section of town, the Pelourinho area, with the largest and best preserved complex of colonial architecture in the Americas. Then, stroll through the narrow bustling streets of the plaza lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by. Overnight. (B)
 
Day 3: SALVADOR.
Today, drive through the oldest farmland in Brazil, past plantations, peaceful colonial towns, and busy country markets. Enjoy lunch at the monastery in the charming colonial town of Cachoeira. After lunch, take a walking tour of the town, visiting the many wood sculpture stores, the bustling market (open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday), and the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte Ð a sorority that traces its origin to the time of slavery. Return to Salvador. Overnight. (B,L)
 
Day 4: SALVADOR.
Morning at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a dinner and folkloric show at Solar do Unhao, an 18th century colonial complex with its own sugar refinery, church, manor house and slaves quarters. Overnight. (B,L)

Day 5: SALVADOR - RIO DE JANEIRO.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival in Rio, meeting and assistance and transfer to your hotel of choice. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight at South America Orhon Copacabana Hotel. (B)

Day 6: RIO DE JANEIRO.
In the morning, ride past the scenic Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, to the Corcovado railroad station.   Ride the train through lush forest up to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, which stands 38 meters high and 710 meters above Rio. Free afternoon. Overnight. (B)

Day 7: RIO DE JANEIRO.
In the morning, take a panoramic tour of Rio's beaches. Then take the thrilling cable ride to the top of Sugar Loaf, 395 meters above the city, and experience the breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight. (B)

Day 8: RIO DE JANEIRO - out.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA. (B)
