A HISTORY OF LAGO JANAUACÁ (Lake Janauacá)
The Amazon Fishing Lodge is located on Lake Janauacá. Janauacá is located in a mouth of the Rio Solimões, 110 kilometers from Manaus, with an area of approximately 80 km ². It has been inhabited since 1830, with the families Cordeiro and Amaro da Silva as the first to arrive. The basic economy in Janauacá, was from the introduction of sugar cane. They were owners of large sugar mills, and responsible for the production of aguardente and sugar cane in large scale.
The growth of the industry favored the arrival of labor from other parts of the state, of small farmers, also herdsmen who wished to acquire ranches and pasture land.
The last to arrive were the fishermen, who were nothing more than workers who had changed their activities. Their presence aggravated the farmers, especially after they started setting their nets within the lake. They gave up fishing other than Janauacá, while they lived right at the entrance to the lake. This caused a conflict that became known as 'A GUERRA DO PEIXE' (the war of the fish), at the end of the 19th century, seeing as the farmers also depended on fish to eat.
A GUERRA DO PEIXE
The conflict lasted months, without any result negociated, until it became a serious armed conflict, which left 13 dead and 14 wounded. After this tragic episode, the authorities became involved in the question, dividing the large lake. they established an area that the fishermen couldn't exceed, and only the farmers could fish with this area with their nets.

LOCATED: Lago do Janauacá (Lake Janauacá , 110 Km from Manaus, right shore of Rio Solimões.
1 1/2 to 2 hours from Manaus/AM in a fast motor boat.
TRANSPORTATION : We transfer our clients in our own motor boats equiped with 60 - 85 HP outboard engines and marine radios for communication. .
COMMUNICATIONS : Service by telephone is available 24 hours per day, and the hotel is equipped with marine radio to communicate with the boats.
EMERGENCIES : There is a 'medical post' in the village of Janauacá to attend emergencies.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE LODGE
The floating hotel is constructed with enormous tree trunks and is divided in two different decks. Deck I has an area for relaxation, sun deck, reception, TV and game room, bar, restuarant, kitchen, stock room, and the quarters for the staff of the lodge. Deck II has the accommodations for the hotel guests.

Suite Tucunaré - with view equipped with refrigerator, pictures, air conditioning, and private bath.

Four rooms Double Luxo - with view equipped with refrigerator, air conditioning,.
Seven rooms Double -with fan (ventilator), refrigerator, and view.
Working Equipment : Fast motor boats for transporting passengers (20); aluminum boats for ecological trips equipped with life preservers and marine radios.

14:30hs. Leave for city tour visiting the principal touristic points of the city such as: Teatro Amazonas (Amazonas Theater), Zona Franca (Tax Free Zone)and Museu de Ciências Naturais (Museum of Natural Science). After the city tour, transport to airport.
