Since
1979, Capt. Donald Reid has lived and worked in Brazil, first as
a boat captain working in the offshore oil industry, then as a contractor
building boats and barges in the Amazon basin. Later Capt. Reid
worked as a consultant to the Brazilian government in the area of
offshore fisheries and business investments. During this time he
traveled extensively and knows every inch of the over 2000 mile
beautiful coastline.
Capt.
Reid is the International Director of the Andetur Brazilian Travel
Club, webmaster of this website, advertizing consultant for Brazilian
hotels, pousadas, and incoming tour operators, Independent Travel-agent,
and works with many related tourism operations. As licensed
Professional Fisherman, he also works with the local fishing cooperative
in Rio Grande do Norte. As licensed Professional Mariner,
he has worked for major oil-field construction, diving, and towing
contractors world-wide (57 countries over the last 30 years).
As certified Marine Surveyor and small vessel construction surveyor,
he continues to offer his services in this field.
Donald
presently is semi-retired and works exclusively for Andetur in
tourism and as an investment consultant for freign investors in
Brazil. Through Andetur and our partners he is active in building
and promoting new projects related to soft-adventure, cultural and
eco-tourism.
