ANDETUR BRAZILIAN TRAVEL CLUB is an unique travel club, tour operator and destination management specialist operation established in Brazil dedicated to the development of substantial soft- adventure, cultural and eco-tourism. The club was founded in 1987 by Sra. Edna Martins Reid, wife of Capt. Donald Reid - the present International Director.

Capt. Donald

Andetur's CLUBE DA PESCA ( Fishing club ) was created by Capt. Donald as a special division to promote Brazilian Sport Fishing activities throughout the country .... specifically in the Amazon and the Pantanal.

During the 1980's, Capt. Donald, a recognised fisheries development consultant, worked on projects with SUDEPE (now IBAMA), the Inter-Amercan Development Bank, the World Bank, and CDI/RN (a state development company in Rio Grande do Norte).

Invited to visit Manaus with the idea of working with the Peacock Bass fishery by Michael Bryant, a long time friend, guide and fishing tour host and several lodge owners, it was decided that Andetur would work with this fishery and include it in the objectives of the club.

In 2001, Capt. Donald visited the Araca Fishing Camp, then owned by Dr. Glaucio Gapski, and operated by Research Forest Ltda. and agreed to promote the camp through Andetur's international sales.

ANDETUR CLUBE DA PESCA

Q.> What are Andetur's legal qualifications in Brazil.

A.> Andetur Brasil Ltda. is registered as an OPERADORA (Tour Operator) in Brazil with EMBRATUR (the Federal Agency that regulates tourism operations) .

Andetur's Clube da Pesca (Fishing Club) is registered with IBAMA (the Federal agency that regulates fishing operations. The LAW that specifies the rules is listed (translation) on this site. IBAMA

Q.> What are the benefits of belonging to or booking thru a 'CLUBE DA PESCA' ?

A.> First point, it is the 'law' .... fishing operations promoted in Brazil by any tour operator or tourist agency, hotel, lodge, boat or barge operator, national or international, must be registered with IBAMA, the same as a club ... same rules!

  • A club has an organized charter with a set of rules and regulations that governs it's operations, it's objectives, and how it is administered. As a club, and a legal operator, we plan to join with other legal operators to support a new association to regulate the conduct of fishing operations and to 'lobby' with the authorities to protect and promote the fisheries in a reponsible manner.
  • As a club we are contracting to purchase a lodge property on the Rio Urubu (183 KM from Manaus) where we plan to build a special club house for our members.
  • We are supporting members of the Peacock Bass Association. We also belong to the Association of Clubes da Pesca Esportiva in Brazil and the IGFA (Brazil). We support 'Catch and Release' in all of our approved operations.
  • When you book a trip through Andetur Brazilian Travel Club or one of our associated agencies, you may be assured of a quality trip 'hosted' by experienced guides and resident 'hosts'. Most of our hosts are Americans that are legal residents in Brazil for many years, experienced, and all speak fluent Portuguese and know their operations well. Most are well known in the market place.
  • Members, and their immediate families, may book and receive special discounts at all operations licensed by Andetur. (This is explained in more detail below). These discounts will apply to all add-on normal tourist packages that the angler or his family may choice to take anywhere in Brazil, or for that matter, in the world.
  • There are many more 'perks' by being a member and these are increasing every day. See our main website - Andetur
  • Club funds are administered by a board of directors, know as AGM (Andetur Group Management) ... and we use these funds for special community projects such as schools, training, orphanges like Project P.R.A.Y.
  • The Clube da Pesca pays for your personal fishing license, and keeps it updated.
  • Andetur Brazilian Travel Club (and the fishing club) are associated with several consolidators - especially the new Amazon Air Express - to get our members the best international air fare prices to South America.

Q.> How does this work? How do I become a Club Member?

A.> Just book a trip ... either directly from Andetur or from one of our associated agents. Trip 'costs' are all the same. Andetur, as a licensed tour operator or wholesaler sells through qualified and known agents in the United States, Canada, and Europe - at the same price. We honor agents and their clients and realize that 'special relationships' are built up by years of 'trust' in your agent.

US$ 250 of the 'first' trip you book is applied to the membership fund, even if booked thru an authorized agent. The membership includes the angler (of register), and his entire immediate family - father, son, daughter, wife, mother, brother or sister. After the first trip. Future bookings on any package represented or approved by Andetur entitles the 'member' and / or his family members to a discount equal to US$ 250.
